George & Nick's Pizza & Steakhouse has a long tradition of being owned and managed by immigrants. The first owner, a Greek immigrant named Paul, opened several restaurants throughout the area and proceeded to sell them to other immigrants, spreading the fortune throughout his community.
In 1981, George Mihalopoulos and Nick Papagiorgio bought what was then known as John's Pizza and Steakhouse (having been known, throughout the years, as Paul's, and then Diamond's, Pizza and Steakhouse). As was tradition, the restaurant was renamed after the new owners.
In 2009, Jeff Burns and Tom Nikas broke that tradition ("Tom and Jeff's doesn't sound good, anyway," Tom says) upon buying the business, sticking with George & Nick's despite both previous owners retiring.
After a dramatic remodel between 2016 and 2017, the restaurant has nearly tripled in size and doubled in staff. While the menu has stayed largely the same - still consisting of hand-cut steaks, made-from-scratch pizza, and Iowa favorites like hand-breaded tenderloins - we've also added a selection of dinner salads and innovative new pizzas.
George & Nick's is open seven days a week and is now fully capable of hosting large groups and parties. Call ahead to make reservations for groups of ten or more! PLEASE NOTE: Due to our very high volume on weekends (Friday & Saturday), we cannot guarantee placement of a party of twenty or more between the hours of 6:00 and 8:00.
